Gathering Ideas

December and January have been a time for me to gather new ideas and allow for some play with my art making. I've been spending more time drawing between semesters, giving myself permission to make sketches that will not result in a finished piece. My youngest child and I take a weekly date to a coffee shop and draw; he draws maps and plans for a tree house, I usually draw him. I've been designing patterns to go onto fabric and have had one of them printed out, which I will begin painting on soon. I'm also working on paintings that are attached to irregular foam shapes. This has been very restorative for me, to move out of a hyper-productive period and become reacquainted with how much I earnestly love drawing and painting.
